It is the largest feline in America, inhabiting from the Canadian Yukon to Tierra del Fuego. The subspecies (Puma concolor puma) is the one that lives in Chile, from the Parinacota on the border with Bolivia to the Brunswick peninsula, in Magallanes.
The beauty of nature in its purest form
The puma, despite being one of the largest predators in the region, tends to be elusive and shy, escaping from human presence, except in a situation of danger to their young or when harassed. They are territorial animals, preferably crepuscular and nocturnal, although to a lesser extent also diurnal.
